Bengals confident in backup QB Johnson
Cincinnati Bengals08/14/2007 6:18 PM The Dayton Daily News reports Bengals HC Marvin Lewis has a message for fans requesting QB Doug Johnson's head on a silver platter: Relax. Johnson's performance in the Bengals' 27-26 preseason loss at Detroit â 11 of 20 passing for 150 yards, one TD, one interception and three sacks for minus-17 yards â wasn't terrific. But it wasn't terrible, either. "I thought Doug performed better in the game than maybe he had practiced," Lewis said. "That's the key to playing any position in the NFL.
